The Mandalay Investment Fair, jointly organized by the Myanmar Investment Commission (MIC), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Mandalay Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MRCCI) and supported by Mandalay Region Government, was held on 30 September, 2015 in Mandalay. The main objectives are to promote the investments in Mandalay area and to link potential investors to local business partners.

The Mandalay Investment Fair was held in Mandalay Hill Resort Hotel with attendance by Union Minister H.E. U Zay Yar Aung, Chairman of Myanmar Investment Commission, H.E. U Ye Myint, Chief Minister of Mandalay Region Government, Daw Lei Lei Thein, Deputy Minister of Ministry of National Planning and Economic Development and ministers of Mandalay Region Government as well as departmental officials, embassies and international organizations, foreign investors, business associations and local businesses from Mandalay.

Mandalay, the second largest city in Myanmar and commercial city of Upper and Central Myanmar, has strong border trade links with neighbouring countries. With numerous opportunities for the potential investors, the Region needs more foreign and local investments to improve overall business environment and economic development.

To support the Mandalay Investment Fair, Mandalay Investment Opportunity Survey has been conducted in Mandalay since July 2015 and shared the preliminary findings with stakeholders such as government departments, business associations and business communities at the Mandalay Stakeholders' Meeting in August 2015.

The Mandalay Investment Fair, the first-ever such investment fair in Myanmar and attended by over 300 participants, had 4 events related to the investment promotion such as Mandalay Investment Seminar, Exhibitions, Business Matching on 30 September 2015 and Site Visit on 1 October 2015. The Mandalay Investment Seminar was to inform the participants about the overall improvements and ongoing developments in business environment, infrastructure and opportunities in Mandalay. 14 exhibition booths were showcased with various sectors from industries, agriculture to hotel and tourism to attract potential investments in each sector. The business matching session, participated by 120 foreign and local businesses, is to enhance the linkage between the potential investors and local businesses. There will be optional site visit on 1 October 2015 for the investors to explore the ongoing developments of business infrastructure in Mandalay.

The organizers hope Mandalay Investment Fair would bring great opportunities to boost the development of Mandalay Region's economy.
