The 4th Mekong-ROK Business Forum held in Yangon

Yangon ---    The 4th Mekong – ROK Business Forum was held on June 30th 2016 at Novotel  Yangon Max, Myanmar. It was organized under the theme of “Realizing Investment Opportunities in Mekong Sub-region” by Myanmar Investment Commission in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea.  H.E. Mr. Kyaw Win , Union Minister of Ministry of Planning and Finance of  Myanmar and H.E. Mr. Lim Sung-nam, First Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, presided over the opening session of the Mekong-ROK Business Forum.

The forum was attended by around 120 participants from relevant ministries and agencies, chamber of commerce, and private sectors from the Republic of Korea and Mekong countries – Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam.

The 4th Mekong – ROK Business Forum was organized to promote trade and investment between Mekong countries and the Republic of Korea. In his opening remark, H.E. Mr. Kyaw Win welcomed the significant progress of trade and investment between the Republic of Korea and Mekong countries. In his view, Mekong countries would benefit from the realizing investment opportunities through the connectivity of Mekong Sub-region into the regional and global supply chain.

As the two plenary session of the Mekong-ROK Business Forum, invited speakers representing trade, investment and chamber of commerce of the Mekong countries and Republic of Korea as well as entrepreneurs discussed on the future direction of cooperation and realization of   trade and investment opportunities in the Mekong region.

The forum concluded with a one on one business matching session, in which around (10) companies from Korea and (35) companies from Mekong countries.
