Myanmar Investment Commission approves investment projects having the amount of over US$ 200 million and Kyats 25 billion

The Myanmar Investment Commission (MIC) meeting (14 / 2019) was convened at the meeting room of the MIC on the morning of 30th August, 2019 in Yangon. U Thaung Tun, Chairman of the MIC and (9) members attended the meeting.

                The meeting approved six projects in the Real estate sector, Livestock & fisheries  sector and Agriculture sector. The amount of USD 214.223 million and Kyat 25733 million have been approved for those projects including the amount of increased investment, which will create 374 job opportunities for Myanmar citizens.

          A total of 1,779 foreign enterprises in 12 sectors from 50 countries were permitted, with the total pledge amount of US$ 81249.193 million from 1988 to the end of July 2019. Among them, the three leading countries who invested were Singapore, People’s Republic of China, and Thailand.

          The largest sector of investment has been Oil & Gas sector. It accounted for 27.59%, follow by the Power sector, which accounted for 26.07%. The third largest sector was manufacturing, which accounted for 13.94% of the total permitted amount of foreign investment.
