Yangon Region Investment Committee Meeting 2/2025

The Yangon Region Investment Committee meeting 2/2025 was held at           Yangon Region Investment Committee in Yangon Office on 26th February 2025. The meeting was attended by Chairman of the Yangon Region Investment Committee U Soe Thein, Chief Minister for the Yangon Region Government and Members of the Yangon Region Investment Committee.          At the meeting, Yangon Region Investment Committee approved a Myanmar citizen investment and a foreign Investment business in the hotel & tourism sector and manufacturing sector including hotel services and manufacturing of wearing apparel on CMP basis.The amount of these investment projects are 796.950 million kyat and USD 1 Million and 1,920 local job opportunities can be created.Moreover, the general issues of the thirteen companies were also discussed in the meeting.

Field Inspection of Magway Region Investment Monitoring Team

Magway Region Investment Monitoring Team conducted field inspections on generation of 100 MW electricity from natural gas and solar (Hybrid) plant and supply and sales of electricity on IPP (BOO) basis at Magway Township, Magway Region on 26th February, 2025. The team met representatives of the company and coordinated the requirements of the project.

Nay Pyi Taw’s Investment and Export Promotion Seminar was held on 26th February

With the aim of promoting investment and exports in Naypyitaw to support the nation’s economic development, the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations and the Naypyitaw Council Investment Committee (NCIC) jointly held Naypyitaw's Investment and Export Promotion Seminar at Zabuthiri Hall in Naypyitaw Council on 26th February 2025.The seminar was attended by the Chairman and members of the Naypyitaw Council, the Deputy Mayor of the Naypyitaw Development Committee, the Director General of the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration, the Vice-Chairman of UMFCCI, members of NCIC, officials from regional departments, and high-level representatives and businessmen from private sectors such as UMFCCI, MRF, Naypyitaw CCI, MSMEs, totaling 130 people who actively participated and discussed.During the event, Naypyitaw Council Chairman U Than Tun Oo delivered an opening speech. Then, U Thant Sin Lwin, the Director General of the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration, delivered a speech about the endeavors the department is undertaking for investment promotion, facilitation, and supervision.Afterward, Daw Yin Yin Nwe, Secretary of the Naypyitaw Council Investment Committee, explained the benefits of the Myanmar Investment Law, as well as the investment potential and prospects of Naypyitaw. Then, the Director of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Irrigation, Daw Thida Chaw Hlaing, presented information about the export regulations of the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) that must be followed when exporting Myanmar agricultural products to China. The Vice President of the Federation of Myanmar Chambers of Commerce and Industry, U Ye Min Aung, also shared his broader view on increasing investment in the domestic edible oil production sector. The participants discussed and asked interesting questions.

COMPANY REGISTRATION

Registration is the first step a businessperson will be required to take before incorporating a company or making an investment in Myanmar, whether that person is a citizen of Myanmar or a foreigner. In accordance with the Myanmar Companies Law 2017, a company may be registered in one of the following forms:

  • As a private OR public company by Myanmar citizens
  • As a foreign company OR branch of a foreign company
  • As a joint venture company
  • As an association/nonprofit organization

INVESTMENT APPLICATION

The Myanmar Investment Commission (MIC) is responsible for verifying and approving investment proposals and regularly issues notifications about sector-specific developments. The MIC is comprised of representatives and experts from government ministries, departments and governmental and non-governmental bodies.


PROCESS
Use the DICA website to retrieve information on requirements for your MIC permit application.
First, investors must first submit a proposal to the Myanmar Investment Commission.
If the proposal meets the criteria, it will be accepted within 15 days.
If accepted, the MIC will review the proposal and reach a decision within 60 days.
