INVESTMENT PROMOTION AND PROJECT MATCHING CONFERENCE WAS HELD IN YANGON

Investment Promotion and Project Matching Conference to promote China-Myanmar investment cooperation  practically through discussion and collaboration was held at the Sedona Hotel, Yangon on 22nd September, 2019. The conference was jointly organized by the Department of Outward Investment and Economic Cooperation of Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, the Embassy of People’s Republic of China and the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration(DICA), Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations (MIFER) of Myanmar.

The conference was started by the opening speech of H.E. Mr. Chen Hai, Ambassador for the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and Mr. Wang Shengwan, Director General of Department of Outward Investment and Economic Cooperation of Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China. Then, U Thant Sin Lwin, Director General for the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration and U Zaw Min Win, President for the UMFCCI delivered the Welcome Remarks respectively.

Subsequently, U Nyunt Shwe, Minister of Ministry of Planning and Finance, Bago Region Government,  Dr. Wunna Aung, Director from DICA and Deputy Director General of Department of Commerce of Yunnan Province made a presentation on the investment opportunities in Myanmar & China.

In the afternoon, Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) and China Chamber of Commerce signed the memorandam of cooperation for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products. In addition, the participants from China and Myanmar business joined enterprises exchange discussion.

The Investment Promotion and Project Matching Conference was attended by about 200 participants notably U Nyunt Shwe, Minister of Ministry of Planning and Finance, Bago Region Government, H.E. Mr. Chen Hai, Ambassador for the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, U Thant Sin Lwin, Director General for the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration, Mr. Wang Shengwan, Director General of Department of Outward Investment and Economic Cooperation of Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, U Zaw Min Win, President for the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) and China Chamber of Commerce(CCCME), foreign investors, local investors and business-related associations representatives.

The enterprises exchange discussion between foreign and local investors was also held at the same venue and discussed future cooperation. Investment Promotion and Project Matching Conference could be bring the interest of China potential investors to invest in Myanmar and lead to understand the unique investment opportunities in Myanmar.
