THE CONSULTATIVE WORKSHOP ON MYANMAR INVESTOR GRIEVANCE MECHANISM

The Consultative Workshop on Myanmar Investor Grievance Mechanism (IGM) was held at Hilton Hotel, Nay Pyi Taw on 1st April 2019 with the collaboration of the Myanmar Investment Commission and International Finance Corporation (IFC).

The objective of the consultative workshop is to receive comments and inputs on the policy framework of Myanmar Investor Grievance Mechanism which was drafted upon the discussion at the meetings which was held at Yangon, Bagan and Mawlamyaing.

It was attended by 50 participants including senior officials from investment related Ministries and officials from DICA branch offices in the States and Regions.

At the workshop, U Aung Naing Oo, Secretary of Myanmar Investment Commission and U Thitsar, Private Sector Specialist, delivered opening remarks respectively.

Then, Mr. Sufian Jusoh, Investment Legal Advisor from International Finance Corporation (IFC) discussed on the title of “The Concept and Benefits of Investor Grievance Mechanism (IGM)” and Mr. Chris Hughes, Investment Legal Advisor from International Finance Corporation (IFC) discussed on the title of “The Proposed Legal Framework for Investor Grievance Mechanism (IGM) in Myanmar”.

After that, the participants made comments and opinions on the proposed policy framework of Myanmar Investor Grievance Mechanism. The Consultative Workshop was concluded at 1:00 pm.
