CONVENING THE SIXTH MYANMAR-SINGAPORE JOINT MINISTERIAL WORKING COMMITTEE (JMWC) MEETING

The Sixth Myanmar-Singapore Joint Ministerial Working Committee (JMWC) Meeting was held on 8 June 2017 at Marina Mandarin Hotel, Singapore.

H.E. U Kyaw Win, Chairman of the Myanmar Investment Commission, Union Minister for Planning and Finance and H.E. Mr. Lim Hng Kiang, Minister for Trade and Industry, Singapore delivered the opening remarks respectively and acted as co-chairs.

Myanmar was represented at the meeting by the high-ranking officials from Myanmar Investment Commission, Ministry of Transport and Communication, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Construction, Union Attorney General Office. Singapore was represented by the high-ranking officials for Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ministry of Finance, and Ministry of Law, International Enterprises (IE), Ministry of National Development & Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA), Ministry of Transport and SPRING Singapore.

Both sides discussed potential cooperation in the areas of trade and investment, financial and legal affairs. The Myanmar Investment Commission and International Enterprises (IE) Singapore signed an MOU on promoting bilateral trade and investment and Myanmar’s Department of Research and Innovation (DRI) and SPRING Singapore also signed MOU on Partner Accreditation Body respectively.

Both Ministers exchanged gifts after the successful conclusion of the meeting.
